Graduation Day...
Hi lovelies!Yesterday, with my beautiful girls with me and my amazing family and boyfriend looking on, I graduated from De Montfort University. I'm officially a Bachelor of Arts (I still can't get over how snazzy that sounds!). I'm still reeling from it all a bit, it all went very quickly, but it was absolutely the best way to celebrate everything we've achieved in the past three years. When the curtain went up on the stage to reveal all of us sat in our robes, it was all a bit emotional! DMU really know how to do it! The ceremony was just brilliant and despite the 30 degree heat and the fact that we all felt like we were melting in our robes, I was a bit sad to have to hand my Harry Potter robes back at the end of the day! All my Hogwarts dreams came true for a brief period there...
Outfit wise, I went for a really simple midi length black textured jersey dress from Oh My Love at Topshop, it was actually backless (business in the front, party in the back or the mullet of the dress world as i've taken to thinking of it...) but obviously all gowned up you couldn't see that bit! I teamed it with some trusty nude heels from New Look (my feet are most certainly paying for that today...) and a statement gold triangle necklace from Topshop. A slick of MAC Russian Red lipstick and I was good to go. It wasn't a show stopping ensemble, but as we know, none of my outfits ever are! As you can also see from the photos, the Converse did make an appearance pre-Ceremony and afterwards due to driving and my eventually very painful feet, but rest assured, they were stowed away during the actual proceedings!
Anyway, I'm so proud of all of us, we've done it ladies, we've bagged our degrees. It all felt a little bit bizarre yesterday saying goodbye to everyone, not knowing when the next time i'll see them will be and leaving my university city once and for all. Me and Leicester haven't always got on, but i've grown a bit more than fond of it, i'll always have a soft spot for it's lovely lanes and all our little personal hotspots we've built up over the years!
(Pre graduation, robes, Mulberry & Converse... or as my family would call it, 'doing graduation Sophie style') |
But hey, as they say, as one door closes, another opens...onto the next chapter...
Congratulations! xo
