Review: No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush
Hi lovelies!
So, on Saturday after a replacement purchase of my foaming Benefit face wash, this little baby also slid into my basket...I just hate it when that happens, don't you?! I posted about it on my Most Wanted on Monday so I couldn't resist! It's been dubbed by a few in the blogosphere as a dupe of the heftily priced cult cleansing brush the Clarisonic, this one however was about a fifth of the price! Now, it's battery powered which would possibly put some people off, it's a little irritating, but then again we are in an age where everything can be plugged in and charged within an hour so i'd say it's more a tiny inconvenience rather than a reason not to buy it.
The bristles when I felt them with my hand are actually a lot softer than I expected them to be! I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but they don't feel as scratchy as I might have thought. The two speeds seem a little drastic when you try it off of your actual face but once you try it as intended you can really see how they can be used to get super cleansed skin although I would say that I probably wouldn't personally use the higher setting more than a couple of times a week as to use it every day would probably be a little too harsh on the skin, so twice a week for a super deep clean would be fine. It's really easy to use, just pop some cleanser on a damp face (they recommend using the No7 Foaming Cleanser but I used my Benefit Foamingly Clean and it was fab so any foamy type cleanser will do!) and then wet the bristles of the brush and use to massage the cleanser around in little circular motions, then rinse and you're done. One thing I would say is to moisturise really well afterwards, although my face felt squeaky clean after using it, it did feel a little drier than it would have done without the brush, but thats nothing that a good moisturiser won't fix.
Now, this product definitely won't be for everyone, but personally, from the times i've used it so far, i've really liked it. There were a couple of little downsides though, but nothing deal breaking! Make sure you close your eyes when your massaging the cleanser in, obviously as the brush moves, the cleanser foams far more than it would just massaging in with your hands so beware of cleanser going EVERYWHERE... cue a very splattered mirror and a very annoyed me as I had a bit of an OCD clean of the bathroom on Friday! Also, it's lack of carry case. It's compact enough to not weigh down any bags when traveling but for hygiene reasons it probably wouldn't have gone a miss to have at least a little cover to go over the bristles. As long as its dried thoroughly (I left mine bristle side down on a flannel) though it shouldn't be a problem. Those are the only minor problems though! So far i've really liked it and think it could just be the extra little boost that my skin care regime needed!
Has anyone else given this one a whirl, what were your thoughts?
I tend to get dry skin on my forehead and nose, so I'd be a bit worried to use this, which is a shame, it sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, sounds like it works exactly the same as the clarisonic! xxx

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't recommend it for dry skin, I think it would be a little too harsh! Obviously i've never actually tried a Clarisonic first hand but I can't imagine there would be a massive amount of difference! xx
DeleteWith things like that, I think you pay for the name. I'm all for quality, but it sounds like this one is just as good! xxx

Thanks lovely! I'll have a look now =) xx
DeleteIt's good there is a cheaper option, over £100 for a product is expensive if it might not work for you. That is so weird it doesn't have a case though, you wouldn't really want to put it just in a plastic bag as the bristles might get squished. It's good it has been working for you though!

The case thing is one of the only downfalls especially as I travel so much back and forth to my boyfriends and stuff, would have been handy to have one! It's fab other than that though! xx
DeleteJust bought this and love it already :)
ReplyDeleteIt's fab isn't it! xx
DeleteThanks for visiting my diary and commenting during a constructive manner, following on already! nice diary your have-I notably enjoyed your post on top of as I simply attended a Smash box event wherever the conjure artists all used brushes to use foundation giving a pretty mat and even finish!
