Something old, something new...

 Hi lovelies!

Regular readers of The Sopho Diaries will know that earlier in the year, January to be exact, I was asked to be my aunties bridesmaid for her wedding in August. Well 8 months rushed on by with dress fittings, hair trials and flowers and just over a week ago the day arrived. I thought I’d share some pictures of the beautiful day, the even more beautiful bride and the very happy new couple…

We started off bright and early (and pretty calmly!) with just me and the maid of honour Nat, my Auntie Carrie and my cousin Leah with a McDonalds breakfast and some glasses of Bucks Fizz, chatting away and running through the plans for the morning. Leah was then whisked off to the venue to have her hair done with the younger bridesmaids and we got going on our own preparations. The morning absolutely flew by and before we knew it the younger girls were arriving to get into their dresses and it got a little manic. I’ve got to admit, my auntie held it all together absolutely amazingly, only getting a bit overwhelmed once she was in her gorgeous dress and ready to get into the car. She looked absolutely stunning.

The ceremony was just perfect and as an added surprise, one which even the bridesmaids had no idea about, Sam, my aunties fiancé wore his full naval uniform…cue lots of happy tears and a very surprised bride. The whole day went without a hitch, lovely food, a very happy couple and some of the best speeches I’ve ever heard at a wedding. Even my Grandad who had been mulling over his speech in utter distain for weeks did us all very proud with an absolutely brilliant one.

I’m so happy to have been part of their special day and I’m amazingly happy for them both that in each other they’ve found such joy and happiness and that now they and Leah can begin their new life chapter as their new little family.

As a little side note, it also gave me the opportunity to spend some quality time with my own new family, my dads partner and her daughter Daisy have officially moved into our house now, so we're all together instead of traveling halfway across the city all the time, I think this photo needs to go up in our new house when we finally move in!

I do love a wedding and getting to be such a big part of it was absolutely lovely, are any of you looking forward to any upcoming nuptials?
