Sunday Catchup | #2
Bonjour my lovelies! Nope, i'm not entirely sure why I came over all French either, but there we go... Anyway, as promised, week 2 of my Sunday catchups. It's been a surprisingly busy one this week actually. I've been trying to keep myself as busy as possible, i'm in the house on my own for the next week or so before I move so I've been spending lots of time with lovely friends, trying to make the most of it before I disappear off, between that and a blogging event at Lush, it's been a little manic to say the least!I spent a couple of days with my lovely friend GemGem. GemGem is one of my oldest friends, we actually met while crab fishing on the Quay where I now work, when we were 8 years old. She has just returned from a year abroad in Germany teaching and it's absolutely lovely to have her back on British soil. We've been doing lots of catching up in the form of shopping trips to Exeter fuelled with Italian food, tea and cake along with a drive through South Devon that saw us stuck in traffic for about an hour after i'd tried to be a clever bean and take a detour to avoid traffic... karma at it's best. This week GemGem also managed, somehow, to trip over a traffic cone in the middle of the outside area of our local garden centre (we went to look at candles...don't worry, I haven't actually morphed into an 80 year old quite yet...) scream like i've never heard her scream before and terrify some chickens in the pet shop... I'm still chuckling now at the sheer thought of it. Bless you, GemGem, you are truly hilarious, most of the time without even trying to be.
I also got to attend a blogging event at Lush in Plymouth and catch up with Nicole of Sleekchic and Becky of Bekawoo that I met at the South West bloggers meet, along with some other lovely bloggers while testing out some fab new Lush products and generally having a brilliant time. It was such a good event and it's amazing that Lush are trying to get a bit more of a blogging community together down here, something that the South West most definitely lacks!
I spent a day getting some bloggy type stuff together, so I filmed a couple of videos (I find it so much easier to film in bulk) along with a few blog posts and reviews that i've been meaning to get up. I even got around to making a dedicated Twitter account just for my blog which has been more than a long time coming so if you would like to follow any specifically Sopho Diaries related twitterings then please add @thesophodiaries. It was nice to set aside a free day just to get a little bit more organised, set up the studio lights and the tripod and just get on with it...it's amazing how much you can get done in just a few hours!
Finally, this week was the week that I officially left my lovely job at The Kings. Absolutely MASSIVE sad faces. I've worked there since the beginning of time - ok, not quite that long, but on and off since I was 18 - and I can't even tell you how much i'm going to miss it. It's been a huge part of my life and everyone there has become like a very odd, very dysfunctional, crazy weird little family to me so i'm going to miss it immensely. I've made some incredible friends, friends that are most definitely friends for life and between the regular customers that i've known for years to all of the staff, thank you for being absolutely amazing and I will miss you all SO much. I know that a lot of you read my blog (probably because i've been banging on about it for ever and possibly because I made you take a business card home...) but you are truly the loveliest. I've done a lot of my growing up behind that bar and can honestly say that there's going to be a big pub shaped hole in my life for the near future. I love you guys.
Spending time with best friends is well, the best! x
