Sunday Catchup | #1

So for weeks and weeks (let's be honest, it's more months and months) this little blog of mine has been in desperate need of a little bit of structure. I've always blogged on a bit of ad hoc basis, as and when things pop into my head and I've always quite liked the fact that my blog is organic in that sense- I don't blog if I have nothing to blog about and I don't ever force myself to write a post just for the sake of keeping to a schedule, I just think that my posts turn out much better if I've written them because I really wanted to.

Having said that though, I think that everything needs a little bit of structure and as more and more of you decide to be super lovely people and click that  little follow button, I'd like to be putting much more regular content on here for you all to have a gander at, after all, that's what you're all here for! On that note, I thought that I'd ease myself into this whole blog diary business and start by doing a bit of a Sunday catch up kind of thing, I think it will be nice for you all to have a peek inside the sometimes pretty mundane life of mine, the life behind The Sopho Diaries and it will be nice for me to have a bit of a weekly reflection, a sort of 'things that have made me happy during the week' kind of thing. With all this change about to happen what with moving and job searching, it might be good to have a bit of regular normality!

So on that note, here's what I've been up to this week...

I spent most of the week in a slightly drizzly Staffordshire, my soon to be home, walking across fields with Toby the dog as the sun was setting, preparing more scones than I'd ever like to see again for Dans mums open garden event on Sunday and taking selfies with farm animals. Yep. Completely normal behaviour.

On the topic of dans mums garden, we're all super proud of her for another amazing event. She opens her garden up once a year as part of the National Garden Scheme, raises loads of money for charity and receives all of the praise that she really should get a whole lot more often because her garden is absolutely stunning. She's a very talented lady, I just wish that she'd believe us when we tell her!

As I'm a lone wolf in our big old house for the next couple of weeks (Thomas, my favourite ginger, has moved back home... Massive sad faces) I decided to turn over a new food leaf and try and curb the bad habits that came with living with one of my bestests- I.e weekly cheeseboards and those apple turnovers that kept slipping into the trolley every single time we went shopping. I'm also absolutely rubbish at having breakfast and when I actually do it's usually boring old toast, so this week I've been trying out snazzy new breakfast ideas like tasty avocado on wholemeal toast. It's super tasty, super healthy and was the perfect opportunity to get my blogger head on for the most Instagrammable of breakfasts.

I also, finally, after much trial, error and about 5 million bobby pins, managed to master the milkmaid braid. It's a good alternative for those of us who have to wear their hair up for work and it's just pretty cute really, perfect for balmy summer days when wearing your hair down only makes you feel hot and flustered. It's super easy but I was considering doing a little tutorial, let me know what you think on that front!

Finally, the highlight of my week, my YouTube channel hit 200 subscribers. It's not a huge amount, but I'm still pretty chuffed that people actually want to sit and listen to a random girl from Devon ramble on about things from her bedroom, thank you so much you beautiful people.

That's about it for this week really. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what you would like to see on my blog as ultimately, it's all of you that have to put up with my ramblings. Do feel free to leave any suggestions in the comments!
