The Origins of a skin miracle?

Hi Everyone!

I know that yet again I appear to have tumbled off the the edge of the earth... I promise that i've been meaning to blog, but between moving my things home to Devon from Leicester, countryside festivals with Dan in Staffordshire and various other potentially very exciting things happening at the moment (i'm keeping quiet for the time being as I don't want to jinx anything but all will be revealed...) I just haven't had a spare second to sit down and blog!

But anyway, as you all know, i've been on the hunt for some kind of skin miracle since this little blog started. I hit the jackpot with my Benefit skincare and having a strict skin regime using lovely products has made the world of difference to my skin (I know I bang on about that range all the time, but I do not have enough lovely things to say about it!). Anyways, what with final university year stresses, despite my skin regime, my skin has been really prone to breakouts recently and absolutely nothing seems to do the trick. After having a little browse around the blogosphere in a quest for dewy, clear skin, my interest in face masks was sparked and after reading about a million reviews from all you lovely people on various face masks that you've tested, I took the plunge and popped to the Origins counter in John Lewis. Well, I say popped, I practically ran in there in utter desperation with Dan in tow, beyond frustrated with my rubbish skin situation and informed the assistant that I was in need of a skin miracle... I really do wish I was joking, but alas, I am not.

Origins - 'Out of Trouble- 10 Minute Mask'
Anywho, she pointed me in the direction of the 'Out of Trouble' 10 minute clay based face mask, and with 10% off of beauty in John Lewis that day and with my skin feeling very sorry for itself I made a cheeky purchase. The mask promises to 'sop up oily-shine, slough off sticky, dead cells, and sweep away irksome debris' leaving your skin soft, super clean and problem areas soothed. Now as with most seemingly miraculous products I was pretty sceptical. I'm also a total Origins virgin, it's a brand that i've always been curious about but have never actually had a proper look at or indeed tried. I've got to say, i'm hugely impressed with it. I've used it for a week or so now and it's just fab. As it's clay based I was expecting the dry, stiff and cracking kind of experience that i've had previously with clay masks, but it went on smoothly, dried evenly and there wasn't a crack in sight. As with all face masks, my face felt a bit immovable but it was far better than I was expecting. The scent of the product itself is as expected from a brand that prides itself on all natural ingredients, does smell quite herbal. It reminded me of Tea Tree oil products (although that could just be my totally warped sense of smell...) it's quite strong but I do actually quite like it. Weirdly enough, the smell of the product kind of does make me feel like it's really doing something, as silly as that might seem! I leave the mask on for around ten minutes as it recommends, although having used it a few times now I've found that leaving it that little bit longer (5 minutes or so) does give it a bit of extra oomph! The mask tingles a bit, but not uncomfortably so, just to the point where you can feel it working.

In terms of results, my skin just feels utterly amazing after using it, it looks generally healthier and any spots or blemishes are soothed and much less angry looking. Since i've been using it, while my skin hasn't entirely cleared up, it's about a million times better than it was a couple of weeks ago and is definitely on the road to recovery. It's looking much dewier, clearer and just feels absolutely lovely. This is definitely one that i'd recommend for anyone who like me is having a bit of a skin nightmare as it's made so much of a difference even just using it a couple of times a week and has also made me quite curious to try other products in the Origins collection. Have any of you tried and loved any Origins products? Feel free to make any recommendations below!

  2. This sounds perfect for what you needed it for! Just a little tip, Clarins do an oil that basically rescues your skin when it's having a tough time (it's called Sensitive Skin Beauty Repair) it's quite pricey but lasts for aaaaaages and it's great for breakouts or reactions to things. Completely calms everything down and even though it's an oil it's still great on oily skin. Just a heads up!
